ANOTHA ONE - Corvinus's $1000 FFA Tournament in AOE4 (Round 1)

In the game of strategy, sometimes you get the perfect spawn, and sometimes you get the worst. Adapt and thrive, no matter the odds.

We are doing the FFA tournament by Senor Corvinus. There are 32 players in this tournament, and the way it works is that there are four groups, each consisting of eight players. The top four from each group move forward into two groups, and then the top four in those two groups advance to the Grand finals. Each round consists of three games.

The first map is Outback Octagon 2, which is not Mega random. This map has one sacred site in the middle, but there are no resources located there; all the resources are in the outskirts. I am contemplating whether I should go to the sacred site with seven players alive. The top three or top four is decided based on points. Regarding the point system, I won’t get into too much detail, but you earn one bonus point for getting first blood, and you also get points per kill. Additionally, you receive two points if you kill the player closest to you.

If someone disconnects in the first 20 minutes, is it a remake? Just joking—apparently, if someone crashes before 5 minutes, it’s a remake, but if they crash after that, there’s no remake. I should go over here, but I’m not finding anything. Maybe I should just build here; my villagers are all in the middle, which is really annoying. This gold situation is pretty bad already, as I have found no resources. I should have just built it here; I think three of my villagers were in the middle of the map, where again, there are no resources, except for the sacred site.

We do have a wood line, which is nice, but it would be great if I found a boar or deer somewhere close. I might need to scout first, although I didn’t see a lot of sheep either, so this is already a pretty bad start in terms of booming. If I had a better spawn, that would be juicy, but it is what it is. Sometimes you get it, and sometimes you get a bad spawn.

I’m not finding anything, which is sad. I actually don’t know if there are sheep in the middle. I’m going to use this King to do some more scouting. Sister's texting me—okay, that’s more resources, so we’re saved! I’m going to stay on deer, though. By the way, aan is right there, above somewhere. Also, I’m not seeing any relics, which is quite unfortunate. I did not choose a good spawn. Imagine if I was in a better position; that would have been incredible.

There’s one guy here, and I’m trying to vacuum these berries first because I’m planning to put a Chapel here. I just want to clear the berries so that I can place my pret in the chapel later. Oh, there’s orange; that’s Del. He’s going for farms, which isn’t good for me. Not a lot of sheep found, which is very sad. I’m going to put eight villagers on the food source to ensure I gather all the food. This is 2K, and afterwards, I could go here, but I think someone went downward, which I’m not sure about.

I did not find a lot of sheep, so this scout isn’t really paying off. Okay, we’re farming now. Everyone is next to their PC, and look at this guy—he’s going to lose his scout! Why is he doing that? Oh my God, why didn’t I go for one of these? Wait, are there sheep in the middle? Is this counted as the middle? Let’s see; there’s a market here. Oh, there are sheep! I did not know that. Come on, tell me there’s more! Yes, another one—look at all that food!

I did not find a lot of sheep, so this scout is not really paying off. Applause

Okay, we're farming. That Del Bro, everyone is bor next to their PC. Look at this guy! You're going to lose your scout. What are you doing? How are you? Oh my God, why did I not go one of these? Oh wait, are there sheep in the middle? Wait, is this counted as the middle? Let's see, there's a market here. Oh, there are! Oh my God, okay, I did not know that. Oh, I did not know that of that. Come on, tell me there's more. Yes, another one! Look at all that bunny. I need to return home.

Here, this guy keeps pulling the boar, just going to go there. Yeah, he's like resetting the boar constantly so I can't get it, but that's fine. That are you [ __ ] serious?

[Music]

Speech

Is there anyone down there? This guy's in Castle. Oh [ ], why am I not inside? I feel like I want to get this boar now. Okay, red is here. You really [ ] wall relics? Come on.

[Music]

Man, I'm sending it.

[Music]

Wall? Not even going to bother. Got Pro scouting this guy. Focus, man.

[Music]

Speee spe

I think I'm dead already. Is chatting allowed? Actually, the other ter you w, but I kind of forgot. I'm dead; it's already over.

Fore fore

How the [ __ ] did he find those? Okay, that did not work.

[Music]

I think like this lobby has a lot of lower league players, like diamond and Conquer ones, and I think I just have to play like it's one-on-ones. They I should just play it normal. I'll try this because my king is dead; that's the problem. If I got my king out, maybe I still have a chance.

Fore but I am dead as [ __ ]

It's teaming. I mean, it's not teaming; it's just like he's obviously going to attack me. It makes more sense to attack Deli because Deli's easier to kill, not H. But he went for me, so I think I'm going to get targeted a lot. I should just play normal. I should have made TC here, man. That was such a mistake. There was no one here either. Look at that; yellow is here, but I would be alone here pretty much with yellow. Okay, green is here too. I mean, that was fine here. It wasn't the best spawn; it wasn't the worst spawn, to be fair.

I didn't know this map has sheep in the middle, so today, tomorrow, and the day after, if I advance, every first game is on this map. So this map is always the same as far as like the sacred side is always in the middle, and then the sides are where the resources are. Do I go five DCS or six DCS? Okay, I'm going to play to win.

Okay, listen, listen. I trolled last game. Someone said no balls, and I was like, okay, I'm going to just kill myself in the game, of course doing this, and then I did it, and then it didn't end up well or good. Okay, this is the map that spawns one side of the map has like no wood line, and there is water sometimes, but the water has no deep water fish. That's how it's made. So my priority here is to go where there's trees. I'm not even kidding; if you spawn far away from the trees, you're dead. You're going to have no trees.

How about to butcher the lobby? I'm about to butcher the lobby; watch out, not safe for work. Okay, there's water; that's cool. There's trees; that's cool too.

Okay, I found two sets of trees; that's good enough for me, and I found a dock. Yep, dock. See, no deep water fish, but this is a big lake, by the way, so I'm going to get my value from this for sure.

Where?

Wood! Yo, kill deer, bro! Kill! You know what I mean? Kill the [ __ ] deer, dude.

So, two players are without trees. Wait, I...

=> 00:22:43

In the game of survival, trees are your lifeline; without them, you're dead in the water.

My priority here is to go where there's trees. I'm not even kidding; if you spawn far away from the trees, you're dead. You're going to have no trees. How about to butcher the lobby? I'm about to butcher the lobby—watch out! Not safe for work. Okay, there's water, that's cool, and there are trees, that's cool too.

Okay, I found two sets of trees; that's good enough for me. I also found a dock. Yep, dock! I see no deep water fish, but this is a big lake, by the way, so I'm going to get my value from this for sure. Where's the wood? Yo, kill deer, bro! Kill—you know what I mean—kill the [__] deer, dude.

So, two players are without trees. Wait, I forgot! I forgot, I forgot. You don't have to kill anymore. Yo, is this guy being micro-aggressive towards me? I actually forgot. Okay, where am I putting my—my, you know, my thing?

Music plays Oh my God, I [__] my pants there! Holy [Applause]! Jesus, dude! Okay, Mongol is here [Applause]. I wonder how many people are in water. It's not even worth fighting with water, I think. Do I rush Castle? Want to just m him down?

Applause It's pink! Ooh, that's pink. I don't want to put my Landmark too far away. Applause I don't know if anyone is in water. I want to make a scout now [Applause], actually, because I need to start making a plan of some sorts. Two players—so two at least. There might be one here and one here. I think this is still worth the def fishing; it has to be, right? Right?

I could go Landmark here, but I don't know if there's any player there. It might be too greedy. Let's not be greedy this game; let's play a game. Okay, let's play like I got zero points last game, you know what I mean? Vador is fetal, so he is fetal—kind of easy to imagine.

Music plays [Applause] Spee.

Wait, wait! What? This is the empty area. This is the empty area. Mongol has nothing on top, I think. Mong is here; I think he has no trees there, and there's no resources up there [Applause]. Purple is here. Oh, this water is massive, by the way. Here, purple is water too. I don't know if I should go Shin Temple.

This guy just reached F [Applause]. AG for—let's go sh and [] it. This guy just stepped up the F too. Oh my God, they're all there! Where's pink? Okay, I'm going to [] annihilate him when I see him.

Wait, he's burgering him! He's burgering this guy! I need to find relics; he's burgering me for [Music].

Embrace the chaos; sometimes you have to take risks to claim your victory.

The transcript begins with a repetitive mention of the term foree, followed by variations like spee and foreign. The speaker expresses a sense of potential, stating, "I could have the ability." This is interspersed with musical interludes and applause, creating a rhythmic backdrop to the dialogue.

As the conversation progresses, phrases such as "Fore kill that for sure" and "this guy doesn't have a lot" emerge, indicating a strategic mindset. The speaker reflects on the need to eliminate a competitor, saying, "I should kill Japanese he's going to have so much gold later on." This reveals a competitive edge and a focus on gaining resources.

The dialogue continues with more mentions of foree, spee, and speech, suggesting a buildup of tension. The speaker expresses a sense of urgency, stating, "I have to kill I I can't go back." This highlights a critical moment in the narrative, where the stakes are high, and decisions must be made quickly.

Throughout the transcript, the interplay of music and applause punctuates the speaker's thoughts, adding to the overall atmosphere. The repetition of phrases like "foree" and "spee" creates a sense of rhythm, while the speaker's internal conflict is evident in statements like, "oh my God man what am I doing." This indicates a struggle between action and hesitation, culminating in a dynamic and engaging narrative.

In a game where every move counts, strategy is everything.

In this intense gaming session, the atmosphere is charged with excitement and tension. The player expresses a sense of urgency, stating, "I have to kill I I can't go back." As the game progresses, they grapple with the challenges posed by their opponents, remarking, "I can't fight too the other guy." The competition is fierce, with both players trading blows in the same neutral market, leading to a chaotic exchange of strategies.

The player reflects on their situation, exclaiming, "oh my God man what am I doing." They acknowledge the stakes involved, noting that "you get more points if you kill them." However, they also recognize the difficulties ahead, stating, "it's worse than that brother." Amidst the frantic gameplay, they contemplate building a wonder, expressing doubt about its viability, "I don't think you're going to hold uptic."

As the game unfolds, the player assesses their performance, asking, "how many kills did I get that wait I didn't get a lot of kills right?" They tally their achievements, revealing, "four kills plus two Bounty plus two win without sacred side/Wonder." The player navigates the complexities of the map, discussing its layout, "this is the part of the map that has no wood." They describe the specific characteristics of the map, noting that it is not Mega random but rather a pre-made map with varying resources.

The player further explains the mechanics of the game, highlighting the significance of Bounty points, "wait green has Bounty cuz he won the last game." They clarify that the extra two points can only be claimed once per player, adding, "that's cool oh that's why he went for me cuz I was closest to him." The conversation shifts to the competitive landscape, with the player assessing their opponents, stating, "apposite is not like insane at FFA." They acknowledge the presence of skilled players but express confidence in their strategy, noting, "the good thing is there are no good SES in this F except the otd guy."

As the tournament progresses, the player prepares for the next round, emphasizing the unique nature of the maps, "this is the most Mega random one out there." They describe the layout, mentioning that "the corners of the map are basically mountains," which limits the available space for gameplay. With a sense of anticipation, they express hope for favorable conditions, asking, "please tell me this is deep water fish."

=> 01:07:56

In a game where strategy meets chaos, knowing your neighbors can make or break your victory.

In this game, eliminating the neighbor is allowed once per game per player. So, technically, whoever killed Blue Goose in the last game also received plus two points. However, if someone were to kill me from a distance, then my closest neighbor would get that benefit.

Now, let's discuss the current situation. We are playing the third map in this tournament, which is an FFA tournament. It's important to note that it’s not Mega random Maps; instead, we are using pre-made Maps. This particular map is described as the most Mega random one out there, specifically the octagon Mega random. This means that the corners of the map are essentially mountains, resulting in less space to play with.

As I assess the map, I hope this area has deep water fish. It appears to be deep water, but even if it’s not, it’s still worth exploring. However, I realize that this area is cut off. Suddenly, I receive a message: "12-month anniversary! Love your content and I understand the financial incentives. A part of me wishes it was possible for pro players to compete at their best level." I respond, thanking the viewer for their support and expressing my appreciation.

Moving on, I notice that Red is here, and I’m not entirely pleased with the situation. There are a lot of fish, but they will expire soon. I contemplate going for Mass Night fishing or perhaps using goums, which might be a better option. I also reflect on the fact that I should have built a house, but it’s too late for that now.

Next, I decide to check if there’s someone on the other side of the river. If someone is also working on two relics and four sacred sites, I could potentially use Camel Riders to my advantage. I realize that one player has already scouted the water, and I note that this is indeed the outpack octagon Mega random map, with mountains in every corner, making the overall map smaller.

I consider going for an Eco win and possibly executing a Castle Rush, assuming players have spawned somewhat close to each other. I spot Orange nearby and plan to dent him in for the first game. However, I notice he’s just starting to fish, which could be a problem for him. Unless he’s rushing Feudal and trying to kill my villagers, I think he’s in trouble.

I attempt to locate his DC but am not having much success. His villager seems to have come from the top right, so I decide to follow it. I hope he’s making fishing ships; if not, he’s likely dead. I suspect he might be aging up instead. If he is, he could be planning to make galleys, but that won’t be very effective against me.

As I scout further, I realize he’s still not aged up, which is puzzling. He should have aged up by now, and I don’t want to build more docks just to destroy more fishing opportunities. I check on Red again; he’s still in Age One, which suggests he might have water nearby. This could be an opportunity for me to eliminate him easily.

I notice that Ax Love is reaching Feudal Age, which will likely become annoying for me. I suspect he must have water, as his age up is significantly delayed. It doesn’t make sense that I aged up first while going for a triple dock strategy. Suddenly, I spot something concerning: "Why did you make that dock?" I realize he’s next to another player who is my neighbor, and it seems Red has water as well. Unfortunately, there are no deep water fish in his area either.

Sometimes, the game changes in ways you least expect, and all you can do is adapt and go for it.

Water here, this guy's booming. Okay, I can kill him very easily. Ax love—his reach is fi age. He's about to become annoying for sure.

Applause

He must have water because his age up is so delayed. It doesn't make sense that I aged up first, and I went triple dock or double.

Music

Dock—oh, that's very good, bro. Why the hell did you make that dock then? Oh, he's next to the other guy who's my neighbor. I guess Red's my neighbor. Right, he went eing. Oh, he has water here, right? Yeah, he has water. Wow, no deep water fish here either. That's really weird.

Okay, me go red. I think he's going to be dealing with him. Oh, he's aging up already. Oh, he's got he's iub. He's going to age up super quick. Is he going to go M Gul? Maybe I want to get some eco upgrades. Actually, I would—I kind of want to go Knights, but I feel like goums is... oh my God, another one is here.

Sometimes a game-changing moment comes from the most unexpected updates. Embrace the chaos and adapt!

In a moment of frustration, the speaker exclaimed, "not why would you not kill me?" and questioned, "why did you shoot?" They expressed disbelief, saying, "oh my God, stupid changes, man." The speaker felt fortunate, stating, "literally got saved by a [__] patch change right there, bro." They were bewildered by the opponent's behavior, asking, "why is he randomly moving his King up and down like that?" With determination, they declared, "I'm just going to go kill him, man."

As the game progressed, the speaker expressed their resolve, stating, "I'm done, I'm going for it." They anticipated an attack from the last remaining opponent, saying, "watch the last guy attack me now." They acknowledged a well-played game, asking, "who is alive, even purple?" The speaker then pondered, "what do I do with you now, purple?"

With a sense of confidence, they remarked, "should be a win unless I Giga throw, which should be fine." However, they expressed concern about their opponent's supply, stating, "I don't know what's his Supply, which might be a little bit scary." They felt the pressure, exclaiming, "give me damn handing in ears, brother."

The speaker noted their opponent's strong position, saying, "he has a lot of Army." They were uncertain about the number of players their opponent had killed, expressing, "it looks like a lot of Supply might not." They acknowledged the need for strategy, stating, "I might have to use my brains for this one."

As the game continued, they expressed their determination, saying, "I clicked it, boom GL man." Reflecting on the game, they mentioned, "five Pringles, baby." They were unsure about their opponent's supply, estimating it to be "either 300, 350, oh really, 250." They noted their opponent's economy, saying, "he has a lot of relics though."

In the end, the speaker concluded, "GG's and well played." They acknowledged their advancement in the game, stating, "I Advance cuz top four Advance." They reflected on their earlier mistakes, saying, "obviously I trolled it a little bit."

Finally, they explained their frustration with a recent game change, stating, "for those that don't know why I molded that springle auto attack in the boat was the change they put in last patch literally yesterday." They felt that without that change, they could have made a significant play, saying, "if that change wasn't there, I would have killed that [__] thing." They concluded with a sense of camaraderie, saying, "GG's."
